Hello Family and dear friends!
Happy Memorial Day to all. The sun is out and shining on the busy island...after the crazy weekend with Fiwagi sailors and all.
Sorry that I have NOT posted since March.....We are STILL on Nantucket and haven't left yet for Kazakhstan. We have a had bit of a delay!!!!!! We are hoping to travel sometime next month in June. We are continuing with the adoption for Baby Kinney #1 and David and I are happy to announce that WE ARE EXPECTING Baby Kinney#2 @ the end of Nov 2009. Hence the delay with the adoption travel....I have been VERY under the weather and am feeling better each and everyday.
Continue to stay posted... I have unpacked all the cashmere and fur and started packing light summer clothes for Petro...I hear it can be really warm.
Til I post again soon with details.
All the best, Leith

April showers bring May baby!
Happy Spring to all!
Great news to report!!!
We have been told by our director Karen .....that we will be leaving as early as April 9th or the latest by April 15th..in any way by mid April. Dave and I will be traveling to "Petro" (Trip#1) and staying for at least 3 weeks. Kazakhstan has a mandatorty 14 day bonding time (daily visits..aka playdates) with our little one, then we apply to go to court and wait for a court date to grant us custody. There is another waiting period 2-4 weeks after that so, we will be coming back to Nantucket and wait to hear our agency when we can return (trip # 2) to fetch our little one to take home with us forever!!!!!
Our passports are in DC waiting for our Kazakhstan Visas. We are getting much closer now to start our Kazakhstan travel journey and becoming parents.
The cocus and daffys are just staring to come out and are enjoying the sunshine...spring is in the air!!!
Sending love to all from the island!

A little longer.....
Pree-vyet All!
Thought I would update you on the latest news....Dave and I went over to the Cape this past weekend and for a "Waiting Family Meeting" @ our "Good Hope Adoption " agency. Well ...we hope to be traveling some time in April not March. ( note: subject to change with out notice) We are hoping that the weather in April will be warmer and a bit easier to travel to Northern Kazakhstan I am planning on traveling with Mud Boots now rather than Snow Boots. In any way we are still very excited about our up and coming journey to meet our little one!!!!
Please stay posted.

The latest update!
Hello to all,
Just wanted to update everyone on our progress. Our director Karen called us on Friday night with GREAT news....
We have been assigned a region: PETROPAVLOVSK
Just 60km from the Russian border, Petropavlosk is as much a part of Siberia as of Kazakhstan.
A lot of other families from our adoption agency have also been assigned there too. They all have come home with beautiful healthy children!
Our new time line is: 6-8 weeks before we travel so.............. this is great opportunity for me to continue with my learning of Russian!
We have also been told there is a little one waiting for us ...so time will tell. Nothing set in stone.
Dave and I have invited a Nantucketer over who is from Kazakhstan and his home town is Petro.
over to learn more about this city and country .
Should be a nice time and very interesting as well.
I will continue to keep you all up dated.
All the best from Nantucket.

This is what "WAITING "Parents do!
Happy New Year to all!
Pree-vyet (Hello)
Now that it's 2009...a new year...new beginning for us as parents to-be. We are very excited about our up coming journey to Kazakhstan! We are still in the "WAITING" phase of the adoption process. Now that ALL the holidays have passed us by here and in Kazakhstan ,we should be hearing very soon about our next step. No news is good news! Dave and I have been busy with island life.....I am still trying to learn a few words in Russian, organizing the house, rearranging the baby's room and of course working a little too. Dave has been busy with frozen pipes and other plumbing matters with his business. We have some snow on the island as I write this...about 5 inches of fluffy white stuff. How magical and beautiful the snow can be when you you are not doing anything. Please keep posted as we will know some news some time very soon.
Dah svee-dahn-yah (Goodbye)
